The Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 (FCRA) was established by the U.S. Federal Government through legislation in 1970 to promote the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer information contained in the files of consumer reporting agencies. The FCRA Basic Certificate Program provides a foundational understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) protecting consumers from unfair and inaccurate reporting.
