MeridianLink’s TazWorks Supports Sue Weaver CAUSE

Over the past 20 years, TazWorks has been consistently recognized as a prominent technology leader in the background screening industry with its comprehensive platform of cloud-based tools, technologies, and integrations for professional background screening agencies. One of the reasons we do what we do is to support safe communities in which we live and work.

That’s why we are humbled and honored to support The Sue Weaver CAUSE (Commit to Always Using Screened Employees) non-profit organization. The organization emphasizes that background investigations empower employers to place an applicant in the most appropriate position to maximize the safety of their customers.

The non-profit was founded in Sue’s memory to promote comprehensive background investigations on service workers after Sue was attacked and killed in her home after working with a trusted store to have some home repairs done. From the CAUSE website, “Unbeknownst to her, both of the men sent on the service call had criminal records. No background checks had been conducted on the workers sent into Sue’s home.” Her story is a cautionary tale and reinforces the importance of background screening.

As many of us have worked from home due to the pandemic, home repairs and remodeling has surged in popularity. These routine activities of home ownership can put people in danger in their own homes. Through the efforts for education on the importance of comprehensive background investigations on service employees, The Sue Weaver CAUSE organization believes it is saving lives.

At TazWorks, we know that everyone deserves to work in safe environments. As an active member of Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA), we appreciate the role screening plays in today’s society. According to the PBSA, the background screening profession serves several critical functions, including:

  • Protecting the rights of consumers;
  • Promoting safe homes and workplaces;
  • Helping employers and property managers comply with state and federal screening regulations;
  • Helping public and private employers make informed placement decisions;
  • Providing risk mitigation tools for employers and property managers.

We take our responsibility to our screening clients seriously and commit to supporting important efforts like those conducted by the Sue Weaver CAUSE organization and others that create safer spaces for women at work and in their homes. We encourage others to do the same.
