TazWorks will be replacing the current certificate with a new SSL digital certificate on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, in order to continue keeping our system as secure as possible. Most software does not need to be changed to accommodate this change in issuing authority, and this update should not impact your workflow, except in a few unique circumstances listed below.
What is SSL?
SSL ensures that every transaction and communication over the internet is automatically encrypted and performed in a secure environment that safeguards against any potential threat and keeps data private. SSL is typically updated every one to two years depending on the certificate you choose.
What we’re changing
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, the current SSL digital certificate used to secure internet communications for all instascreen.net domains will expire. Before this happens, we will be replacing the current certificate with a new SSL digital certificate on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. This new certificate will be issued from Amazon Trust Services rather than Thawte, which we were using previously. We have moved to Amazon Trust Services because they support integrated, streamlined management that will save us and our CRAs time and money with all things digital certificate. Most software does not need to be changed to accommodate this change in issuing authority, and this update should not impact your workflow, unless you do not meet the requirements below.
Systems that may be impacted
Browser requirements
All modern browsers trust Amazon’s Certificate Authorities (CAs). You can update the certificate bundle in your browser simply by updating your browser. You will know if your browser is not supporting the new SSL if you cannot access your InstaScreen site, but this is highly unlikely.

- The Windows operating system manages certificate bundles for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge, so you must update Windows as well.
Operating system requirements
You won’t have any trouble with the new SSL update if you are using one of the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows versions that have January 2005 or later updates installed, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and newer versions
- Mac OS X 10.4 with Java for Mac OS X 10.4 Release 5, Mac OS X 10.5 and newer versions
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (March 2007), Linux 6, and Linux 7 and CentOS 5, CentOS 6, and CentOS 7
- Ubuntu 8.10
- Debian 5.0
- Amazon Linux (all versions)
- Java 1.4.2_12, Java 5 update 2, and all newer versions, including Java 6, Java 7, and Java 8
